FYI below please attend if you can see mail from Tom Patterson. This is good PR event for NAv6TF see below. As you all know U.S. Government OMB is now leading the transition effort across the Federal Government. Per this event hanks again to Tom, Latif, Brett, Cynthia, and Chris all here on NAv6TF.
Below snippet of offline conversation I had with some driving U.S. to do more with U.S. Government with IPv6 per our consensus view within the NAv6TF for a long time, not with Government persons but private industry.

With respect. Many vendors like IBM, Sun, HP, Windriver, Elmic, Cisco, MS, Juniper, Linux OS Vendors, and many others have been shipping products since 2000 besides the ones mentioned below. In addition MCI, AT&T, and Sprint all have participated in Moonv6 www.moonv6.org in addition to the Federal Government. OMB is in the process of leading a U.S Federal Agency wide Transition Requirements to IPv6. Just want to point out the U.S. has not been sitting around and R&D test beds do exist across the U.S. for IPv6. There has been a significant investment by the U.S. and significant leadership in the U.S. Government led by the DOD initially in June 2003. The U.S. Government as a business will move to IPv6 and that requirement is in process. The U.S. Government can also help promote IPv6 in the private sector, but it is not the U.S. Governments role to madate anything for the private sector to implement for any technology. The Jeffersonian model of "lending a helping hand" applies here to IPv6, but lets watch our rhetoric in the private sector is caution that is important to hear.

Jim et al.// As you know, Latif and I, plus Brent from Ravenwing, and a few more folks are joining Congressman Tom Davis for a half day program on IPv6 in America. I and all of the panelists are doing this on a pro-bono basis. Congressman Davis is a real proponent of IPv6 in America, and the event is sure to be a big draw. The message for the event is that we've moved beyond the 'should we or shouldn't we' discussions, and are starting to now focus on how to best leverage the coming IPv6 infrastructure. Congressman Davis is expected to talk about both the Federal Government focus moving from it's mandate to the mission, while Latif will talk about where America stands relative to other countries in terms of roll outs. The panel that I am chairing will focus on real world work being done in four areas: DoD., Civilian Gov, Commercial Fortune 100, and GRiD computing. This will be a no hype allowed panel discussion. We expect a great turn out of over 100 people next Thursday March 30th from 7:30am to Noon at the Fairview Park Marriott (Falls Church just off the Washington DC beltway) I hope you'll be able to join in.
